General Information
Reporting to the Blue Lake Area Manager,the Mechanical Technicianprovides technical skills to ensure all compressor mechanical systems and equipment are effectively maintained and safely operated in accordance with our standards of performance, policies and procedures. This position will be located at one of the Kalkaska/Mancelona locations based on selected candidate. The main responsibilities of this role will be to maintain TransCanada assets as part of the team in charge of Blue Lake Area.
*This position is overtime eligible and will be part of an on:call rotating schedule and provide emergency support, as required. *
The regular work schedule for this position will be:
:Monday to Friday 8 hours / day; April:Oct (Dates Vary)
:7 Days On 12 Hour Days; 7 Days off Rotation November:March for Station Operations
Please note that hours of work may need to be extended as business needs arise.
The successful candidates will be required to travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve overnight stays away from home.
**This position is eligible for domestic relocation assistance, but is not eligible for cross:border relocation assistance.**
:independently perform installation, testing, repair and maintenance on compressor station equipment and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system, as required;
:perform routine and major maintenance on Reciprocating or turbine gas compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment;
:perform Mechanical, Facilities and Pipeline work as required;
:perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs;
:oversee the safe and efficient completion of projects;
:take active control of contractors;
:ensure facilities and personnel comply with TransCanadas safety, health, environment and risk standards;
:procure resources and manage within budgets for the facilities;
:provide support to our business partners, as required;
:complete other tasks as required.
Qualifications and Education
:Must possess strong mechanical (industrial) skills;
:PLC's and Control basic understanding;
:solid analytical and troubleshooting skills;
:competency in the use of test equipment applicable to the maintenance of control systems;
:strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
:demonstrable effective written and verbal communication skills;
:proven ability to work effectively alone and in a team environment
:possess a valid diploma from a college or technical school ;
:experienced with the interpretation of technical reference documents;
:SAP experience is an asset.
*Depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the successful candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level and/or ladder.
